This past Sunday on June 26, the BET Awards were held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles. The night was filled with powerful celebrities, touching tributes to the late Prince, and moving award speeches.
One of our favorite parts of the night happened before the show even started. Before every awards show, we tune in an hour before to catch all the hottest celebrities in their beautiful gowns and dresses, and this year’s award show was no different.
Here’s a look at the best dressed from the 2016 BET Awards.
Gabrielle Union
The “Being Mary Jane” star looked beautiful in this deep red and white gown by Marc Jacobs that featured a crocheted pattern all throughout the dress. Her look was perfectly balanced with a one sleeve design and high slit up to her hips.
Janelle Monae
This cover girl looked like she belonged on the cover of a magazine. Janelle Monae wore a two-piece black and white suit with distinct striped patterns. Her top featured a sexy deep-V that she paired with a 90s inspired gold choker.

Rocsi Diaz
The former 106 & Park Host ditched the common gown look of the red carpet and opted for a jumpsuit. Rocsi’s black and nude jumpsuit featured an intricate design that drew a lot of the right attention, while the band along the midriff accentuated her narrow waist and hips.
Yemi Alade
Yemi Alade achieved a soft yet dark look when she appeared on the BET red carpet. She wore a black floral ball gown that featured a mesh bodice. This Nigerian singer remained true to her roots by keeping her hair styles in gorgeous Bantu knots.

She kept her jewelry and accessories cohesive by finishing her look with black and gold pieces and a black clutch.
All these women killed it on the BET Awards red carpet, and this event was just another reason to take notice of these strong, intelligent, powerful, and beautiful women.
