The countdown to Spring is on with less than two weeks away from its arrival. ‘Tis the season to begin becoming a bit more playful in your personal style and makeup. Reinvent your look by taking a few of these style trends into Spring!
Unconventional Hair Accessories
Gone are the days where we purchase bobby pins to match our hair color. We now have options of gold, metallic silver, and other snazzy colors to choose from. When Solange debuted her Seat at the Table cover art, we were in awe and then inspired by her wavy mane adorned with hair clips. Artist Janelle Monae has also recently taken her hair accessories game up a notch. Janelle slays effortlessly, however when she wore two pigtail buns with eyes – yes, eyes; the swirly ones you buy at an arts and craft store- we were at a new level in the hair accessories game.
Play into the trend this Spring by adding unique jewelry, colored clips/pins, craft findings, and pieces of nature to your coif. Delve into your creativity and try something new; even if it may seem a little wacky. The rules have changed, as there aren’t any. Wherever your creative mind takes you, make sure you rock it with boldness and confidence.
Chic Floral Clothing
While it may seem a bit obvious to wear floral pieces in the Spring, you’ll still be on trend and in style. Millennials have adopted more of a green thumb by using plants as a visual aesthetic and incorporating greenery into flat lays and backdrops on social media – there’s greenery and floral arrangements all around. I personally have a profound love for horticulture; so yes, more please.
Get in on the garden trend by completing an outfit with a flower adorned kimono or snag a pair of denim jeans with floral patches. To really stand out, try adding a two piece floral ensemble to your wardrobe. Find unique by pieces raiding your grandmother’s closet or visit a thrift store to score a one of a kind piece worn by someone else’s grandma. I recently picked up a flower embellished moto jacket that I’m dying to wear when the weather breaks.
Bold Effortless Eye Shadow
The trend of one swipe, color outside of the lines eye shadow has made an appearance and I’m here for it. The style muse herself, Solange, has been rocking the trend in hues of red, pink and electric blue. For the amateur wearers of makeup, this is for you. Just pack on a bright bold color to your eyelids and you’re good to go – easy peasy. Complete the look with applying highlighter or light blush and a glossy nude lip.
